Directions from Elizabethton

Watauga in a Native American word for "Beautiful Waters"

South on 19E/321/67 to Hampton which is approximately five miles and take a left onto 321/67 South and approximately three miles you will come to the lake which will be on your left.

Watauga & Wilbur Dam

Off of 19E/321/67 South take first left past the Chamber of Commerce building (Where the covered train sits.) There will be signs marked "TVA Watauga Dam". Follow these directional signs. You will be on the Siam Road for most of the route. You will first come to Wilbur Dam, then to Watauga Dam, and then to the Lookout station for Watauga Lake.

Alternative Route

Proceed North on 19E, take the first exit out of town towards Shady Valley, this is the Stoney Creek Road also Hwy 91 north. Follow Hwy 91 North for 1 ½ miles and turn right onto Blue Springs Road. There will be signs marked, "TVA Watauga Dam." Follow these directional signs to first Wilbur Dam, then to Watauga Dam, and then to the Lookout Station for Watauga Lake.
