Snow Skiing
The top of Roan Mountain is a popular spot for cross country skiing since the road that leads from Carvers Gap to the Rhododendron Gardens is not plowed during snowfalls. In Roan Mountain State Park, there are various trails and open fields on which skiing is permitted. (Bring your own equipment-no rentals in immediate area)
