                               Welcome to TourElizabethton.com!

Elizabethton/Carter County offers vast opportunities to sample our eateries, attractions and shopping. The best way to experience these is to get out and explore. Make your first stop the Tourism Council, located at the Chamber of Commerce, 500 Veterans Memorial Parkway (19E). Here you can pick up local brochures and maps. Next, visit Historic Downtown Elizabethton located on Elk Avenue. While exploring, you will find antique stores, restaurants, specialty stores, financial institutes, churches and the Bonnie Kate Theatre.

There are several attractions and events to keep you busy in all seasons. The Tourism Council offers a Historic Walking Tour brochure. This tour is self-guided and most locations are privately owned and for viewing only. This adventure will take you back in time while getting you familiar with today's Historic Downtown. Some other points of interest would be the Carter Mansion, Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area, Watauga Lake, Roan Mountain State Park and the Covered Bridge.

There are several events that take place throughout the year in Elizabethton/ Carter County. The Covered Bridge Celeration (Mid-June), Roan Mountain Rhododendron Festival, as well as Cruise-In Downtown, which takes place on Elk Avenue every Saturday night April through October. Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area hosts many festivals and events throughout the year. Events not to be missed are the Celtic Festival, Liberty (The Saga of Sycamore Shoals - outdoor drama) and the Quilt Show.

Carter County offers fun, enjoyment and relaxation to our visitors.  The area abounds in outdoor activities, white water rafting, hiking, the Appalachian Trail, fishing (lake, rivers, and the trophy trout section), camping (both tent and RV), picnicking by the lake or in the mountains, boating (rentals are available) or just a relaxing day touring and taking in the scenery in the beautiful highland regions of the county.  Antique shops abound in the historic downtown and there are many unique restaurants for your dining pleasure.
